Their new rarity and preciousness better justifies why so many men inhabit this terrible, treacherous place, but the system to find them is more of a headache than it needs be. Do you really need to pull out a separate tracker to locate them, and one with which you can't wield anything better than a pistol? It's Doom 3 torch all over again.
You see, stalker turns out to be controversial no matter what devs do. Bugs are definitely their fault, but those other things... hm, not really.
People complained factions were static and underdeveloped, so here you go, get it. Now each and every one of those who complained are whining even more! It's a battlefield (no pun intended, heh)! Oh, come on, what do you want them to do, play poker all night long, or what?! They're supposed to fight like mad!
People complained about daylike nights. "Ok, here you go!" says the vigilant dev and... oh, shit-o-meter on the forums goes haywire! Now they whine the night is too dark and they want to skip it. Hypocrites.
Same goes with rare artifacts (imagine the work and effort devs put to make this mechanic work) -- whining "oh, oh, oh, doom all over again!". Didn't Valve teach you anything about "trade-offs being a good thing for gameplay"?
Same goes with weapon upgrades -- "can't hit anyone in the beginning, turn into superman at the end". Stalker has rpg elements. One of the main gameplay things about rpgs is your character's PROGRESS! -- the way you grow from a total looser to a spanking machine. What better way to feel that than by customizing your fav gun? Bet those whiners won't answer you.
And then... same with almost everything...
